Movart Gallery was among the selected galleries for the 11th edition of the FNB Joburg Art Fair, held in Johannesburg, at the Sandton Convention Center, curated by South African Amy Ellenbogen. In this edition, more than 45 galleries from 14 countries from Africa, Europe and the United States participated, with a particularly strong representation of the African continent, bringing exhibitors from Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe . Movart represented 3 artists: the Angolan Toy Boy, the Mozambican Mário Macilau and, from São Tomé and Príncipe, René Tavares, emphasizing the focus of their work on African artists and the diaspora of Lusophone countries, for the perception of the value of their representation in the international market of contemporary art. These three artists present different visions of reality in different countries and contexts, and with a similar historical past that is marked by strong bonds of union between them. The FNB Joburg Art Fair is the first African art fair, playing a crucial role in supporting and investing in contemporary art in Africa and its diaspora.
